Mark’s #12 – Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz (304 pages)

Moriarty: A Novel

Days after Sherlock Holmes and his nemesis Moriarty battled and plunged over the cliffs at the Swiss waterfall,  Pinkerton detective agent Frederick Chase arrives in Europe from New York to investigate the alleged deaths and to pursue a ruthless American criminal looking to fill the void left in London’s criminal underworld.  Along the way, Chase partners with Scotland Yard’s  Athelney Jones, who has obssesively studied the deductive methods of Sherlock… Are these two detectives up to the challenge of finding and apprehending London’s newest menace?

Fans of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s work, may either find this book a great treat in the spirit of their beloved Sherlock, or they will be dissatisfied because it falls short of really capturing  the heart of the Sherlock series.

I found the book enjoyable… 4/5 stars.
