Mark’s #21 – The Darkest Hour by Tony Schumacher

The Darkest Hour: A Novel

Set in German-occupied London after the close of World War II, a former British war hero is now assigned by the SS to the department of Jewish Affairs. John Henry Rossett is responsible for rounding up and deporting Jews.  Always contemplating suicided, Rossett survives each day by drinking heavily as he goes through the motions and refuses to allow himself to think too deeply about what he is doing. Until one day he finds a little Jewish boy in hiding who awakens his soul and his courage once again.

The story progresses as a plot-twisting thriller as Rossett must once again rediscover the skills and man he once was in order to save this boy’s life – and to find redemption for himself.
