Agreed. by the end of book 3 I found the plot to be a bit repetetive, but still enjoyable.

I am about to finish Book 3 – The Warlords of Mars. I have enjoyed the good, old-fashioned adventure in each, although each successive book seems to get more and more filled with John Carter’s ego. Nonetheless, if you keep in mind they are intended to be fun escapism, you will have a good read.

Sounds like an interesting read. It reminded me of a statement I read yesterday in a comentary on Leviticus. Though not on the same topic exactly as yours, I think it applys.
“They were demonic figures…… All of this is motivated by people’s desire to manipulate and even control the world of the spirits so that they can manage their lives without having to bend the knee to GOD.”

I did hear that they were making movies. I was thinking of waiting a while to see them since I just read the books and it seems like movies are usually a little disappointing after reading the books. Are you going to watch it right away?

I thought I was so original when I connected House with Holmes– until a quick internet search revealed that House is actually based on Holmes. House and Wilson even live at 221B Baker Street for a while. I’m working my way through all the Holmes stories now, too. And rewatching House, looking for more references!
